SIPs have been around since the 1930’s.The first SIPs house was built in 1937 and it remained in use until 1988 when it was removed for an expanding university campus!

When Kobe, Japan was hit by a massive 7.2 earthquake in 1993, 6 SIPs homes were left standing amongst the ruins with little damage to them, a testament of the integral strength of SIPs as a superior building product.

Homes built with SIPs have easily withstood the ravages of tornadoes. Most SIPs homes remain structurally intact and suffer only lost roof shingles and some broken windows. Often they are moved off their foundations by the tornado and can later be repositioned on the foundation.

A typical 4X8’ 6 1/2” thick OSB/OSB SIP can carry a dead load of up to 30,000 LBS on its top edge.That’s a LOT of weight (about thesame as 6 SUV’s)!

 

Our SIPs come in an industry standard width of 4 feet and can be as long as 24 feet! And even longer lengths can be achieved by combining panels on site.

SIPs have the same structural engineering advantages of a steel “I” beam used in building skyscrapers, etc. The flanges on an I beam are the inner and outer skins of the SIP and the foam acts as the connector between them. Light weight and strength with high energy efficiency, isn’t this a much better way to build a home?
